Scott wolf usc email10/12/2023 The SC football program wisely chose to keep Donte and both USC and Donte will be better off for it. But given the whole culture at SC, it is hard to pin this all on Donte. His cornerbacks didnt distinguish themselves last year. Is Donte a great position coach? Who knows. This is the same kind of ridiculous coverage that Scott is known for. So how does the recruitment of one guy, Johnny Thompson, create a rationale for disparaging Donte’s reputation? It just doesnt. I can hear Scott’s reply that none of those guys have lived up to their expectations (except for Calen), but that was a result of the horrible coaching leadership and schematics of Orlando and Helton. With Donte as the major recruiter, the Trojans were able to land some really talented recruits – Korey Foreman, Raesjon Davis, Ceyair Wright, Prophet Brown, Calen Bullock, Julien Simon, etc. He was trapped in the Helton regime and was coaching under Todd Orlando. Why is no one shocked by this when he’s a dead beat dad trying to evade child support payments when he flies to court on a private jet with a team of lawyers. They made my USC better. This endless criticism of Donte is just unwarranted. Gabby aka The Guy who posts as So Cals Wife & steveg49 & DOJ & Scott Wolf and Frank Young. I will always embrace offering athletic scholarships to USC to HS students who did not attend as superior a Cali public school as I attended. We contributed to the diversity and college experience tremendously. Many of us here on the site were student-athletes (mostly non-scholarship). The student-athletes are a part of our DNA–Heltonism being the lone failure. USC was first a school of competitive winners which was then leveraged by Zumberge and Sample into a school of BRILLIANT winners. I’m confident USC will still be a World Leader, especially if it puts Drive/Intelligence/Accomplishment front and center. Schools are massaging their admissions characteristics to create the profile they desire. Way to go sister! Medicine is better for it. Admittedly, affirmative action got more women (of all race/ethnicity) into the field and now more women graduate US medical school than do men. (LAC/USC Med was my #1 choice anyway, so “lucky me”.) The race/gender based UC admission system was ultimately successfully sued and the process “over-turned.” Alan Bakke. Interesting.Īs a young USC student I was excluding from admission to UCLA Med and UCSF Med based on my gender and race (white male), though I had a higher GPA and MCAT scores than over half of the accepted candidates at both schools. The Ivy League schools are “defending” their admission practices (before the US Supreme Court) which excluded bright, young Asian applicants based on racial profiling and diversity. Your USC Trojans pummeled the Nevada Wolf Pack this past Saturday, 66-14. Will be interesting to see how THAT works for them. Some notable Universities are dropping the SAT/ACT. It’s in our DNA.ĪMERICA is just not going in that (Meritocracy) direction presently. This merit-based ethos is a HUGE part of the Trojan Family. Irrespective of our background, we built a better school. The competition we Trojans faced along the way is a huge part of our personal and professional success, and the ongoing success which USC continues to enjoy. USC is absolutely a school based on Merit first. I am an ardent supporter of the Meritocracy Society.
